📘 Course Overview

A three-year full-time law degree, designed to give you both the core legal knowledge required for professional legal training (as a solicitor or barrister) and optional specialisms so you can tailor your studies. You’ll also build practical legal skills via clinics, mooting, volunteering, and other hands-on experiences.

You can choose from special pathway options like Commercial Law, International Law, Human Rights, Professional Practice, or Law with Technology.

 


 

🧠 Structure and Modules

Year 1 (Foundational):

  • Principles of the English Legal System

  • Law in Practice (skills, drafting, client interaction, legal tech)

  • Foundations of Legal Analysis (includes theory, history, economics perspectives)

  • Principles of Contract Law

  • Principles of Criminal Law

  • Principles of Public Law and Human Rights

Year 2 & Year 3 (Core + Specialism):

  • Core legal modules continue (e.g. Tort, Property, Public Law, etc.)

  • In final year you take several modules (at least four 15-credit modules) specific to the chosen specialism

  • Electives might include: Company Law, Intellectual Property Law, Smart Technologies & Law, Mediation, Public International Law, etc.

Assessments & Teaching Methods:

  • Lectures, seminars, tutorials

  • A mix of exams, coursework, mooting, portfolios, oral & written assignments

  • Opportunities for real-client work, volunteering, legal clinics to gain practical exposure

 


 

🌍 Study Abroad & Extra Opportunities

  • Exchange / abroad programmes with universities in Europe, Asia and Australia

  • Practical experience via clinics, “Law in Real Life” programme, careers modules, court visits

  • Mooting, advocacy training, negotiation etc.

 


 

🎯 Entry Requirements

  • A-Levels: ABB

  • International Baccalaureate: ~31 points, with certain standards in English

  • Other qualifications (BTEC, etc.) may be accepted; foundation or preparatory programmes available for some applicants

  • Minimum grade in English Language and Mathematics (GCSE level)

  • English Language Requirements: For non-native speakers: IELTS ~7.0 overall with minimum band scores etc.

 


 

⚖️ Accreditation / Professional Relevance

  • Accredited by the Bar Standards Board and General Council of the Bar so meets academic prerequisites for barrister training.

  • Qualifying for solicitor training as well: the degree covers the legal foundation (academic) stage needed for solicitor route.
